For those looking for a unique laptop computer that incorporates innovative design elements with strong performance and reliability, look no further than Sony’s line of Vaio laptop computers. Recognizing the strong demand for pink laptop computers, Sony has made the pink color option available throughout its product line, from the 11-inch Vaio TZ line to 14-inch Vaio CR line as well on the 17-inch AR line. Each line of Vaio laptop computers has its own set of features, and with the pink option you’re sure to get noticed at school, at the local Starbucks or even on the job. In the sweet spot between the 11-inch TZ line and the 17-inch AR line sits the VGN CR510 – a 14-inch model that offers the perfect balance between usability and portability for most users.
Under its sleek pink exterior sits a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processor capable of running any of today’s resource demanding applications and games. Comparisons between the Intel chip and its closest competition, the AMD Turion X2 chip, place the Core 2 Duo processors well ahead of the competition. Combine the processor with other useful features such as 3GB of SDRAM, a generous 250GB hard drive and Windows Vista Premium operating system, and you have a laptop computer that will service the needs of a wide range of users. Another impressive feature of the VGN-CR510E is its relative low weight – just 5.3 pounds or 6.1 pounds with AC adaptor. This is light enough to easily slip in and out of your favorite pink notebook case or book bag.
In addition to sporting a soft light pink exterior, the CR510E also features pink on the keyboard tray and screen bezel. The keyboard is very comfortable to use and contains flat and widely-spaced keys, similar to those found on the Macbook line of notebooks. The touch pad, with its matte finish, allows the user to scroll effortlessly. Above the keyboard you will find a series of multimedia shortcut keys, which are actual buttons as opposed to the more modern feel of touch sensitive shortcut keys found on the HP DV series of laptops. The user can also play music or DVDs without booting into windows while the laptop is closed by using a set of media control keys placed along the front edge.
The suggested retail of the Sony Vaio CR-510E was around $999 at the time of this review. Additional options can be added that will drive the price up slightly higher, though still reasonable for the performance and fashionable appearance offered by this package.
